Abstract

Spacing and fertilizing are part of plant cultivation techniques that determine corn production. The purpose of this service is to improve the knowledge and skills of maize farmer groups in terms of spacing, fertilization, and post-harvest handling of maize. Our partner is the Lebbae 1 maize farmer group located in Tonasa Village, Sanrobone District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi. Implementation methods are counseling/lectures, plot demonstrations, mentoring and monitoring and evaluation. The targets to be achieved are (1) Partners understand the importance of setting plant spacing for maize, (2) understand the function of each type of fertilizer used (macro and micro) on the growth and production of maize, (3) understand and are skilled at balanced fertilization on crops corn, and (4) understanding and skilled in handling post-harvest maize. This service activity received a very good response by the Lebbae 1 farmer group, they were enthusiastic and enthusiastic in participating in all activities ranging from counseling to evaluation of activities. This service activity succeeded in increasing the knowledge and skills of partner groups in the application of cultivation technology, especially the regulation of plant spacing and application of fertilizers as well as post-harvest handling of maize.
